Advanced truck Driving School programs are designed to introduce students to the procedures and skills found in the truck driving industry while preparing each individual to obtain a commercial driver’s license. Students will develop the skills necessary to operate a commercial vehicle safely.

Advantages to Our Training Programs:
Advanced truck Driving School operates its own Freight Company and partners with various other companies to incorporate “Real World” trucking into each training program. Students will have the opportunity to work with actual freight as part of their training.

Upon completion from these courses, the student will be able to obtain work in entry-level truck driver positions with common carriers, private truck fleets, local, short and long haul companies.

Our programs meets the minimum requirements established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and is based on the FMCSA “Model Curriculum”.

Advanced Professional Truck Driving Course Description

6 Week Course (240 Hours)

This program is designed to introduce the students to the procedures and skills found in the truck driving industry while preparing each individual to obtain a commercial driver’s license.  Students will develop the skills necessary to operate a commercial vehicle safely.  Each course consists of classroom, lab, range and on the road experience to ensure the best possible training.  The program covers topics in basic operations, safe operating practices, advanced operating practices, vehicle maintenance, and non-vehicle activities.  Within each section, students will cover topics on control systems, vehicle inspections, basic control, shifting, backing, coupling and uncoupling, visual search and communication skills, speed and space management, safe operating procedures, vehicle systems, transporting cargo, hours of service, documentation regulations, accident procedures, trip planning, maintenance, public relations, and extreme conditions.  This program meets the minimum requirements established by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and is based on the FMCSA “Model Curriculum”.

Program Objective:

Upon completion of this program, students will have the basic knowledge and practical skills necessary to become a proficient entry-level truck driver.  This program meets the needs of students with no prior knowledge or experience in truck driving.  It also provides training consisting of hands-on lab and driving instruction behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer.  Students will also be instructed in the areas of detailed coupling and uncoupling, vehicle inspection and special equipment operation.  A generous part of this program is dedicated to vehicle inspection as well as flatbed and specialized hauling.  Mountain driving and grade level training are also accomplished.  Students will be prepared to obtain a California Commercial Driver’s License with all endorsements, which include: Combinations, Air brakes, Doubles-Triples, Tankers, and Hazardous Materials.

Transporting Cargo:

Advanced Truck Driving School operates its own Freight Company and partners with various other companies to incorporate “Real World” trucking into each training program.  Students will have the opportunity to work with actual freight as part of their training.  Students learn load securement techniques and will haul freight ranging from 50,000 lbs. – 80,000 lbs.  Every student is encouraged to participate in our “Advanced Ride Along” program where students will accompany our freight drivers on an actual truck driving run.  Students will obtain extended log book training, experience CHP weigh stations, grapevine training, congested Los Angeles traffic, and loading/unloading procedures.

Career Opportunities:

Upon completion from this course, the student will be able to obtain work in entry-level truck driver positions with common carriers, private truck fleets, local, short and long haul companies.
